Family Dinners - Contests

Lasagna, homemade spaghetti and meatballs, squash casserole and twice-baked potatoes are a few of my favorites. I have great memories of my mom’s homemade meals and sitting down to dinner as a family. Unfortunately, I don’t think this happens all that often in homes anymore. We create such busy schedules for ourselves!

So, because I love to cook and I think it is great to enjoy your meals with family, I am starting two contests to help encourage family dinners.

I will be giving away four $25 gift certificates throughout the year, two in April and two in September!

There will be two contests running simultaneously; one a drawing, the other a judged photo contest. Both contests will run from January 15 to April 30 and again from May 1 to September 30.

To enter the drawing:
Send a picture of your family eating dinner together at the table (not in front of the TV).

To enter the judged contest:
Send a picture of a dish or meal you’ve prepared.

All entries must be the original work of the participant (the meals and the photos). You may enter up to 5 photos of different meals and be entered up to 5 times for each contest. Watermarks may be left on photos.

All photos must be sent to mhamptonphoto@gmail.com. By sending photos to Megan Hampton Photography, you are giving permission that they be published in relation to this contest. All drawings and decisions are final.

Go make some wonderful family memories and delicious meals!

New Year, First Expo

My first expo is tomorrow! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I'm hopeful that my business name will just get out there and my work will attract people.

2010 was an amazing year for my business. I didn't gain much income, but the experience was incredible. Every shoot I learned at least a dozen things I could do better AND how.

God has been so gracious in allowing me to pursue this career opportunity by giving me an ability to use and grow with. I always thought I would start a business later in life, after I'd had a really stable job that I got sick of. We'd be financially stable and I could then do what I wanted. I'm so glad I didn't waste that time, but was encouraged by others around me to go for it.

It's been rocky at times. I have to be patient because I can't have every part of my dream yet, but I am at least building up to it. I'm not always great at selling myself and am constantly over-critiquing my work.

I'm not sure what is in store for 2011. God has total control of this business and I'm thankful for that.

I hope to grow in my abilities while giving people an experience they love with images they'll cherish (sounds cliche I know). I hope to show the world (or at least those in Mansfield and surrounding towns) a different perspective through my lens.  Most of all, I hope those around me are as blessed as I am. Happy New Year!

Here are a few pics from the end of 2010:
